Full colour changes

If you want to change the look of your car, the wheels do half the work. Full colour change refurbs strip back to bare alloy and refinish in your colour of choice.

A full colour change is a bigger job than a kerb-damage tidy. We take the wheels back to bare metal, prep them, lay the new colour and seal it under lacquer. Plan in a day for a full set; we coordinate timing so the car can sit on the original wheels until we swap them.

Full colour change is where the wheels stop being a part of the car and start being a feature of it. The most common transformation is OEM silver to gloss or satin black, but bronze, gunmetal, anthracite and full custom colours are all on the table.

It's a back-to-bare job. Old colour stripped completely, primer across the bare alloy, new colour laid in full coverage, lacquer over the top, all cured. The result is a factory-quality finish in a colour the factory never offered.

We coordinate timing so the car stays drivable. Either swap to a spare set during the work, or do the wheels in pairs across two visits, or block out a day on the driveway with the car off the road.

What you get

  • Strip to bare alloy before colour
  • Full set transformations
  • Coordinated swap so car stays mobile
  • Includes lacquer for protection

How the work runs

  1. Plan. Pick the colour and the finish. We talk through how to keep the car mobile during the work - spare set, pair-by-pair across two visits, or a single off-road day.
  2. Strip. Wheels stripped back to bare alloy. The full surface, not just the damage areas.
  3. Prime. Primer applied across the bare metal so the new colour bonds evenly. Without this step, colour adhesion is hit and miss.
  4. Colour. New colour laid across the wheel in full coverage. Multi-stage finishes get the extra coats they need.
  5. Lacquer and cure. Lacquer sealed over the colour, cured to spec, wheel touch-safe at the end of the visit.
  6. Refit. Wheels back on the car, torqued to spec. Maintenance brief on how to keep the finish sharp.

Common questions

Full colour changes FAQs.

  • How long does a full colour change take?

A full set in a single day on the driveway is typical, with the car on a spare set or off the road for the day. Pair-by-pair across two visits is also possible.

  • Can you take a silver wheel to gloss black?

Yes - it's the most common colour change we do. Full strip, prime, colour, lacquer.

  • Will the finish last?

Yes - it's the same lacquer chemistry as factory, applied over a properly prepped surface. Look after the wheels (sensible cleaners, no harsh acids) and they hold their finish for years.

  • Can you change just two wheels?

Technically yes, but the front and rear wheels won't match. Most people do a full set for a reason.

  • What if I don't like it?

We don't sign off until you've seen the wheels back on the car and you're happy. If something needs adjusting, we adjust it before we leave.
